The breaking of this day
The breaking of this day is dark. A heavy, water-laden sky shows no apparent dawn. Then, a sultry tinge of pink appears along the hill. Can that be the place to look for hope of light? And yes ! The pale pink tinge has now become a spreading rosy streak. Steadily, slowly, now appears a silver line, so fine, so bright, Which then breaks forth into a dazzling light of sparkling gold Rising above the hill in incandescent brilliance At a speed so slow, so sure, and yet so fast, Till that we name the Sun now shows itself in splendour, Freed at last, from the receding night.
