Autumn Larches

Autumn Trees
In any language is there a word- not in ours-
For these October larches? Sanskrit perhaps,
Or in the heavenly dictionary whence language came:
Green-gold, yellow, brown tinged with red.....
No, such words cannot express their glowing
Glowing under the white-capped peaks and dark scree
Down the mountain-side amongst the dark green firs,
These larches shining amber in between, each
With its spine, its tender spire reaching up,
Called by the light.
                            Clouds today,
No visible sun, yet the larches, larches,
Not mute, not hiding, but emerging
Light answering light, fire answering fire,
Reminding me: am I answering?
